Power-spring

Just went to the gym this morning - outside it was rainy, cold and I almost regretted that my downy feather coat is at the dry cleaner's. (Well - not really - I was completely surprised, as every year, when I stemmed down the boxes with summer clothes from the high wardrobes: enough to protect me).
This at least I have learned in the last years: before running into a shop to buy a new white jackett, I have to LOOK into those boxes --- often there slumber already two or three jacketts and look as fresh as Sleeping Beauty when I kiss them back to life :-)
Our streets became green jungles over night - still - and here I use a word I learned from Rosemary - cladded in "chartreuse" - but quickly changing into routine-green.
And the beautiful chestnuts - so much a symbol of time for me - for time hurrying by (yes, yes, turn around and there lie brown gleaming chestnurs on the pavement!) - and yet also a symbol for life being a circle, coming up reliably with beauty in all four seasons.

  1. You are right Britta, the chartreuse colourway rapidly gives way to a more mature coat of green, but it is stunning whilst it lasts.
The weather here has turned glorious and I am hoping that it heads your way poste haste, so that you can finally pop those boxes of jackets back on top of the wardrobe where they belong at this time of year.

    1. I could bath in that colour, Rosemary (but never wear it) - and am waiting for the Linden to open up their buds - then a typical smell for Berlin will be in the air.

  2. As Robert Frost said, "Nature's first green is gold."

    1. A beautiful quote, Shawn, thanks!
It reminds me a bit of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust: "Grau, teurer Freund, ist alle Theorie,/ Und grün des Lebens goldner Baum."
      My rough translation:
"Grey, dear friend, is all theory/ And green the golden tree of life."

  3. The Chestnuts have been in bloom here for more than a week now - glorious white and that dusty pink. I love to walk under them - they are so stately. The Dogwood trees, also white and pink, are in bloom too. We are spoiled for blossoms.

    1. Beautiful, Pondside! The photo of the chestnut on my other blog is an unusual type of chestnut (I think it might be a horse chestnut tree, but am not sure: the blossoms are less defined, more blurred, hazy-powdered). Dogwood is very rare here - though so beautiful!
